Chaos

As you may know, right now (February 2025) in the United States there is a lot of chaos. A good portion of the U.S.’s population are feeling a lot of stress and anxiety. Is it possible that the Tarot can help in situations such as this? The answer is, yes it can; one simply needs to ask how to deal with it.

I have just done such a five-card reading for these turbulent times. The spread is pictured below; I will interpret the cards here.

The cards I drew, in order, are the Queen of Pentacles, XVI The Tower, XVIII The Moon, the Page of Cups (reversed), and XIX The Sun. You may have already noticed that three of the cards I drew are major arcana cards; it’s for this reason that we must pay special attention to what this spread says, for major arcana cards speak of important lessons.

The first card, the Queen of Pentacles, represents sensibility and being practical, along with nurturing. We must set goals and make steady progress towards them, while also being practical and nurturing ourselves. The Queen of Pentacles tells us that success and even wealth are possibilities.

XVI The Tower speaks of the chaos we are living in right now. Being that it’s a major arcana card, one could also glean that this chaos is divinely manifested; thus, we must trust that it’s for a good reason and be prepared to follow the message of the Queen of Pentacles and make steady progress towards one’s goals.

XVIII The Moon reinforces the meaning of The Tower—that there is instability—and there is also deception and illegality in play. It advises us to use our intuition in making progress out of the chaos. We mustn’t allow our anxiety to overwhelm us, and instead, as the Queen of Pentacles advises, be practical and make progress towards our goal/s.

The Page of Cups, reversed, portends of bad news that could bring heartbreak and/or sorrow. The blessing in this message are aware of the bad news, we can hopefully be prepared for it.

The blessing in this spread is that it ends with good news: XIX The Sun. It speaks of joy, happiness, truth, confidence, and good luck. It also lets us know that the truth behind any deception will be revealed.
