Using the Tarot to Guide You in Embracing Change

The beginning of a new year is beckoning, and many of us are looking back and assessing what kinds of changes would be helpful for us. You may already know that leaving our mistakes behind is a really good idea, but a better way to approach this could be to use our mistakes to decide what changes are needed for self-improvement. This can be a way to figure out New Year’s Resolutions, but perhaps it would be best to simply decide that we deserve to be better people and make our outlook into a higher standard for ourselves.

Here is a four-card spread that a querent (the person for whom the cards are being read) could use to move along to the next step in his/her life. First of all, we have XXI, The World—the final card of the major arcana—which lets us know that bigger and better things await. Next, the King of Swords shows that taking hold of our thoughts—a kind of self-discipline—would be a good idea. The Knight of Pentacles tells us that these things will help us to move forward to our goal or goals. The final card, the 4 of Cups, asks us if we want boredom or laziness to end our year, or are we willing to take action to make things better?
